According to figures released by PwC, the top 5 UK ‘sharing economy’ sectors are on track to reap £140bn in transactions by 2025, a 20-fold increase on today’s figure of £7bn.

These include collaborative finance, peer-to-peer accommodation such as Airbnb and peer-to-peer transportation like Uber, and the same research shows transactions in  Europe from these peer-to-peer marketplaces could rise to Euro 570bn by 2025.

This is in spite of the recent crack-down in Berlin on Airbnb and San Francisco imposing a law requiring hosts to register with the city.
