As anticipated, Boris Johnson has confirmed that July 4th will be the reopening date for the hospitality sector, and has also announced a reduction in the social distancing rule to one metre.

He said that the existing guidance on two metres’ social distancing allows only a small fraction of the industry to operate, and that while it is still “recommended where possible”, official guidance will reduce with “mitigations” such as face masks.

All hospitality indoors will be limited to table service.
