The UK Government’s announcement of a proposed points-based system for overseas workers, including earnings set at least £25,600 to qualify for a visa, has been described as potentially having a ‘catastrophic’ impact on the UK hospitality industry. If the level is set at 70 points, it is feared businesses such as hotels and restaurants will no longer be able to bring in unskilled labour from other European countries.

The Government is insisting businesses move away from cheap foreign labour, and instead invest in training and technology, but ASAP Business Partner, hospitality technology provide Criton, says technology can’t replace human beings.
