The Chinese New Year starts on Tuesday 5 February, and VisitBritain has announced that the UK is expecting a boost in visits from China.

2019 forward flight bookings from China to the UK are up 24% between Wednesday 30 January and Tuesday 12 February over last year, while bookings from China to the UK are up 31% between January and June. China ranked the UK second out of 50 nations for its overall brand last year, and visitors from the country are expected to spend more than £1 billion this year, 50% more than two years ago.

Extra-special celebrations for Chinese New Year are planned in Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, London and Edinburgh, the city’s first ever Chinese New Year festival.
