In TUI’s most recent earnings update, it suggested it could become the Amadeus for independent hotels, expanding outside its core markets including the UK and Germany, into emerging markets such as countries like China, India, and Brazil.

While expanding its hotel and cruise portfolio, it needs to fill its 411 owned-brand hotels, but now plans to target independent properties. It wants its TUI Blue brand to become the “world’s largest leisure hotel brand within the next few years”, increasing from 10 to 100 hotels, claiming hotels in the TUI ecosystem can make higher margins on a per-room-night basis.
