A new Oxford Economics study in partnership with TripAdvisor, looking to understand the review site’s scale and impact on tourism, suggests it influenced more than 94 million tourism nights in the UK last year, more than 433 million trips globally, and affected a global travel spend of $546 billion.

Spend on travel globally reached more than $5.29 trillion in 2017, around three-quarters of which was on domestic travel, while international spending grew to $1.4 trillion.


TripAdvisor’s influence has risen globally over the past decade in both emerging and developed markets.
