Sabre is now trialling this new system with up to 20 travel agencies with a global rollout expected next year, meaning all traditional and alternative accommodation options and live quotes from all four platforms will be available side-by-side with other competing rates, saving travel agents time and effort of clicking around different websites for the best possible deal. Travel agents generally agree that the existing system is not ideal, but some are wary about the untested, unregulated market.

The new Sabre will bring 5.4 million alternative-lodging options, including apartments, entire homes, B&Bs and even igloos, in front of consumers who are increasingly aware of sharing economy options, but via the personal service offered by a travel agent.
