Despite the new realities of Covid19, there are still hotel openings to look forward to in June 2020.
The global hospitality market has 444 hotel projects expected to open their doors this month, and while the crisis has stalled the launch of many hotels over the last two months, various projects are now coming back onstream including openings previously postponed.
These will add 86,275 rooms to global hotel stock, across 279 first-class and 165 luxury properties.
The Asia Pacific region has the highest number of hotels opening this month, with 139 expecting to welcome guests in June, while North America comes in next with 137 properties opening this month, more than double the 52 openings earmarked for China.
Dubai, New York and London are the top three global cities, each due eight openings this month, while the most popular brands in June 2020 are the midscale Hampton by Hilton (17 openings), Courtyard by Marriott and aloft adding eight each.
Three most impressive according to this article are the 5-star, 812-key Fairmont Abu Dhabi Marina Hotels and Residences, the 800-key newbuild Loews Kansas City Convention Centre, and Paramount Tower Hotel and Residences Dubai, a 64-storey tower complex with retail units on the lower floors, and 787 5-star luxury guestrooms and suites.
