New research commissioned by UK-based activist travel company Responsible Travel has investigated the carbon footprint associated with other parts of the holiday experience beyond the flight, such as food and accommodation.

The research looked at four different holidays and calculated emissions, including how hotels could lower their impact by offering plant-based menus, seasonal produce and only using renewable power. it is only a small study but it widens the discussion around the bigger picture in reducing the overall environmental impact of hospitality on the climate emergency.
