According to new research by Staybridge Suites, 75% of British travellers admit to overeating and 61% to gaining weight during a trip away from home, while 36% own up to eating more than 1,500 calories more than they would normally over a two-day trip, mainly due to the lack of home cooked meals.
Over a half wish that they could eat more home cooked meals while at hotels and 26% blame their unhealthy eating on the lack of a kitchen, with many taking tea, crisps, chocolate and cereals on their travels for emergencies.
Staybridge Suites (managed in many locations in the UK and Europe by ASAP Operator Member Cycas Hospitality) has now partnered with British Chef and TV presenter Matt Tebbutt on a campaign ‘Tastes of Home’. Guests will find easy, home-cooked recipes to prepare in their fully equipped Staybridge Suites kitchen in one of six locations in London, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester.
The recipes offer a healthy take on traditional favourite dishes, including a healthy fish and chips, a twist on Spaghetti Bolognese, and a pasta dish with poached chicken and a tarragon dressing.
