Skift’s latest report on the short-term rental sector has been released, estimating that global gross bookings of short-term rental properties were up 7% in 2019, totalling $115 billion.

Airbnb, Booking Group, Expedia Group, TripAdvisor and Tujia between them registered almost three-quarters of all bookings in the sector.

But with millions of independent hosts, 100,000-plus property managers and thousands of B2B and management companies, the landscape remains fragmented.

The report also discusses hotel brands moving into the space.
