THE Scottish Green Party is calling for regulations to deal with “out of control” short-term lets, following Airbnb listings in the country trebling from just under 10,500 to approximately 32,000 in three years, making home-ownership “an ever more distant prospect for tens of thousands of people”.

The Government has launched a consultation after being accused of blocking controls on short-term lets, even though in Edinburgh short rentals are described as out of control, and on Skye, one-fifth of all homes is a short-term let.
