The Scottish Government has announced it will introduce a licensing system for short-term lets by spring 2021, which will require all hosts to meet safety standards and other requirements set locally, and this has been welcomed in Edinburgh

But a specialist licensing law firm has warned that other services may be delayed while councils face a “flood” of applications from hosts of up to 10,000 properties.

The council currently has around 50 staff involved in processing all types of licence applications.
