A glamorous gala dinner and prestigious awards ceremony are set to close this year’s ASAP Convention, followed by an evening of laughter and entertainment with comedian and compere, Ian Irving (pictured right).

Now in its sixth year, the ASAP Serviced Apartment Industry Awards showcases individuals, teams and organisations across the global sector for their achievements over the past 12 months. There are 10 coveted awards up for grabs at this year’s glitzy ceremony, including the Investment in People Award, Rising Star of the Year and Guest Experience of the Year.

Comedian and compere for the evening, Ian Irving, has appeared at the world-famous London Palladium as well as Her Majesty’s Theatre in London and has previously supported leading acts including Lionel Richie, Simply Red, Bruce Forsyth and Jimmy Tarbuck.

James Foice, Chief Executive of ASAP, said: “This year’s accolades recognise the excellence and innovation displayed by the leaders who operate in our vibrant sector. After two inspiring days of talks from keynote speakers and specialised workshops at this year’s convention, we are rounding off the event with a delicious three-course dinner, a glass or two of wine and some entertainment from Ian Irving – a top comedian.”

The themes of the two-day convention have been tailored to engage with the key issues facing the serviced apartment and hospitality sectors over the next 12 months. Employee retention and Brexit are cited as the members’ top concerns, and form the basis of workshops and sessions over the course of the event.

David Smith, Director at City Apartments Limited and speaking at the convention (pictured left), said: “The ASAP plays a pivotal role in trying to ensure that our industry grows in a safe, trustworthy, and transparent way. Its members gather to support each other at this amazing event that motivates us all to do better. That makes it the most rewarding event in our industry and a pleasure to attend.”

Key attendees and expert speakers at this year’s event include Hilary Bagshaw, EU Exit Immigration Policy Stakeholder Engagement Lead from the Home Office, John Guthrie, Employment Policy Advisor from UKHospitality and keynote speaker Andy Edwards, an inspiring and highly sought-after motivational speaker, who specialises in business relationships.

James concluded: “We are thrilled to be launching the sixth ASAP Serviced Apartment Industry awards at a time when the sector has seen some of the greatest achievements to date. ASAP now represents member organisations in 19 countries worldwide which complements our aspiration for global growth. Support for and awareness of accreditation continues with activity now in New Zealand, Australia, South America and Asia, so this year’s awards programme will recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation in our wonderful industry as it continues to grow globally.”
