Indian budget hotel chain Oyo Hotels and Homes has recently entered the US and Vietnam, has restructured, hired new leaders, and signed up a deal with Ctrip; this week it has announced itself as the third largest hotel chain in the world by room count, up from sixth in April.

Over just two months it says it has overtaken Accor Hotels, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and IHG, with only Hilton Hotels and Marriott International now offering more rooms.

It plans to offer over two million rooms in Southeast Asia alone by 2023 – even Marriott only has 1.3 million rooms currently.
