Airbnb has announced making “substantially more” than $1 billion in revenue during Q3 2018, its strongest quarter to date.

Meanwhile, a one-day conference “ReformBNB” is being held today (Monday 19th November), hosted by the Hotel Association of New York City, billed as the “first international conference on illegal short-term rentals”, with the aim of building a coordinated global effort for more proactive regulatory regimes for the home-sharing industry.

This is the first of several conferences with another planned for Barcelona next year, and is intended to coordinate what has been piecemeal attempts to regulate the homesharing giants in individual cities around the world. Airbnb has reported organising a rally of Airbnb hosts outside the conference hotel, the InterContinental Barclay, at noon.
