Nicola Sturgeon will set out today at the SNP Conference the Scottish Government’s plans to tackle the growth of Airbnb properties in Edinburgh, saying that councils will get new powers to “get the balance right” between short-term lets and residential accommodation. She will acknowledge that Airbnb is good for tourism, but makes it harder in tourist hotspots to find homes to live in.

This is part of a £150 million housing package, which will also include targeted support to help first-time buyers.
