Millenium and Copthorne hospitality group has partly blamed its 2018 profit fall of 28% on recruitment issues at its UK hotels as a result of Brexit, where more than half of the London workforce, for instance, are from the EU. It also said there is more competition for talent due to the number of new hotels being built worldwide and the rise of serviced apartments.

It also attributed its issues to the US-China trade war, competition from Airbnb and increasing minimum wage legislation across many jurisdictions.
