Marriott currently has an all-time record pipeline of nearly 465,000 new hotel rooms worldwide, and in this interview with Skift, executive vice president Anthony Capuano shares a variety of hospitality topics, Marriott’s growing partnership with one of the largest mall developers in north America, how its homesharing pilot is working out (apparently very successfully received so far), and its eventual plans for new brands and products.

It includes his plans for differentiating Marriott’s homesharing offering through a partnership with Hostmaker in this crowded part of the alternative accommodations market, including “economic synergies” between the company’s existing hotels and newer homesharing units.

It also discusses Marriott’s serviced apartment business, where he believes the overall serviced apartment sector must rethink its positioning with consumers as they move from looking for six-month relocation accommodation towards one week with the family.
