Marriott Vacations Worldwide has formed a luxury brand giant for timeshare vacation resorts, by acquiring all the outstanding shares of Interval Leisure Group (ILG).

The c.US$4.7 billion deal means the  combined companies will have about 650,000 owners, more than 100 vacation properties and over 20,000 vacation ownership units globally across seven luxury vacation brands, including Grand Residences by Marriott, Ritz-Carlton Destination Club and Hyatt Residence Club.
