After a booming 2017, Mallorcan hospitality businesses and other associated services are seeing occupancy and profits down by 10-15% already this year, in the face of strong competition from other recovering countries such as Turkey, Egypt and Greece.

There are also more holiday rentals available, the tourist ecotax has doubled, and there are fewer German and British tourists arriving, forcing hotels to reduce room rates by up to 40%.
