ASAP Business and Distribution partner Savills has released its latest Spotlight report, this time focusing on trends in European hotels.

Key highlights include the increased growth in international travel, with UNWTO figures showing inbound tourism arrivals hitting 1.4 billion.

Arrivals to Europe accounted for more than half at 713 million, up 6% over the previous year, and the continent also continues to be the largest outbound market. Key Eastern European cities are benefiting from increased visitor numbers, and reducing unemployment rates combined with strong real wage growth outlook in Europe promise more.

Among the top 20 European hotspots, major Portuguese hubs Porto and Lisbon have seen growth, as well as Budapest and Bucharest, Prague, Madrid, Barcelona and Amsterdam. London and Manchester have benefited from improved transport hubs, while Amsterdam and Dublin have benefited from corporate relocations pre-Brexit. Paris and Brussels are recovering from the effects on tourism of previous terrorist attacks, as is Istanbul.
