The Instagram blog, Planet D, with 223,000 followers, has been named top luxury travel influencer by both Forbes and AdWeek and Forbes. Meanwhile Australian blogger Tara Milk Tea leverages her 1.1 million Instagram followers to partner with luxury brands.

This has led to luxury hotels and brands moving away from celebrity endorsement and towards luxury influencers who digitally engage the millennial luxury explorer – up to 82% of travellers follow travel blogs or travel and lifestyle influencers on social media. But they realise they need to move away from the “white glove” service, and towards the millennial traveller need to stretch themselves through new experiences and to connect with the people around them, while valuing their own privacy.
