Airbnb has certainly grown rapidly, from 47,000 guests worldwide in the summer of 2010 to 17 million in the summer of 2015, but it actually hasn’t yet made a dent in hotel chains’ RevPAR.

82% of millennials took a vacation in the past 12 months, compared with 75% of all US consumers, so hotels are working to meet their specific requirements and tastes.

Several hotel chains have created brands specifically designed to appeal to millennial travelers such as Marriott’s brand, Moxy Hotels, with check-in at the bar, communal spaces and super-connectivity, and Radisson Red with its app that allows you to check in online and order drinks from the bar. Creative local design features highly, as do locally hosted events, health features, unique offerings and authentic experiences.
