As lockdown restrictions are eased across Europe, many in the travel industry hope that with higher cleaning standards and social distancing, business can continue even if in a new form.

Domestic Airbnb reservations are high in France, and in the Netherlands and Denmark are at 80%  and 90% respectively compared with April 2019.

Hotel data firm, ASAP Business Partner STR, estimates that hotels still open globally are at less than 30% occupancy, even lower across Europe – to 10%.

Airbnb has announced a new cleaning protocol for hosts that will launch this month, including a learning and certification programme. There will be 24 hours between people entering a room, and longer for less experienced hosts.
