Hoteliers are increasingly dependent on online travel agents (OTAs) to drive bookings with nearly a quarter of of overnight bookings generated through this channel in 2015.

New research from the hotel, restaurant and cafe association HOTREC has shown that hoteliers are increasingly dependent on OTAs to drive bookings, with and Expedia holding an 80% share.

OTAs account for nearly 25% of all hotel bookings, while the share of direct bookings has dropped to 55%.
