According to the latest Business Barometer member survey, compiled by Qa Research in conjunction with UKinbound, hoteliers’ confidence is low, despite the same survey showing that bookings, visitor numbers and revenue are equal to or higher than 12 months ago.

Just 53% of respondents showed confidence in future bookings, compared to 67% in September 2016, based on higher costs, terrorist attacks and strong competition.

However, for July and August, 81% of respondents stated that revenue yield had either increased or stayed the same compared to the same months last year and 72% experienced bookings and visitor numbers similar or higher.

The survey also showed the weak pound as the reason behind growth, with China and the USA as growing markets, and Germany replacing France as declining.
