The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has had agreements from 25 brands including TripAdvisor, Airbnb and Google, as well as major hotel chains, to stop pressure selling and giving misleading discount claims online.

Accor, IHG, Hilton, Marriott, Radisson Hotel Group, and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts have asked for more time to introduce technical updates to show UK customers the full cost of a room upfront for hotels abroad.

The CMA is also pushing for compliance with consumer protection law across global travel and tourism.
