Riding on the back of its popularity as a source of travel inspiration as guests post photos of hotels, activities and destinations around the world, Instagram has now added new action buttons, meaning along with ‘liking’ an image, its 800 million users can now book tickets, reserve or start an order, via the app.

Hospitality companies are among the most popular on Instagram, and those actively promoting via social media channels are likely to benefit the most. Tripadvisor has 1.4 million followers, Booking.com over half a million, Marriott Hotels over a quarter of a million, Hilton Hotels & Resorts 226,000 and InterContinental 146,000 followers.

Hotels will be able to add booking options to their profile page, so Instagram’s 200+ million daily active Instagram users who visit a business profile every day can book in just one click.
