The GBTA and Concur polled 735 business travellers in the UK, Germany, and France on their business travel booking habits and concerns about security. Roughly 7 out of 10 travellers booked outside of company channels at least once in the past year, even when they had access to an online booking tool – which many businesses have invested heavily in. They did this knowing it’s less safe for them and potentially posing legal and liability issues for their employers.
The research also shows the awareness gap between what travel programs offer and what travellers know about all the services available to them. More than half of those polled said their company provides travel safety training, but the content and quality varies wildly between organisations.
