Two weeks ago, Google launched into hotels; now it has expanded into alternative accommodations with the option to book entire lodgings.

Referred to as vacation rentals, the new listings are geared towards those looking for apartments, cabins, villas and houses and getting to know a neighbourhood.

Google has partnered with Expedia, HomeAway, and TripAdvisor among others, and is offering rentals in destinations all over the world already among traditional hotel listings.

Google initially piloted the vacation rental idea in 2017, offering a limited number of rentals in select markets. It has not partnered with Airbnb, which itself also offers individual rooms, which is outside Google’s vacation rentals concept.
