It’s been a difficult time recently for French tourism; terror attacks, floods, and strikes leading to fuel shortages and bridges blocked by barricades.

Striking workers have been asked to put their differences aside for the sake of French tourism, but on Thursday there were blackouts when protestors cut power to a big electricity line in western France, and occupied train tracks at a Paris railway hub. Meanwhile rising flood waters also disrupted rail traffic, flooded roads and forced riverside restaurants to close down.

Hotel occupancy rates were down about 25 percent in Paris but with Euro 2016 starting next Friday, the situation could still turn around, and France is still among the world’s top tourist destinations.
