As reported over the last two years, and discussed at the ASAP Serviced Apartment Convention 2016 and 2017, there is a growing consumer interest in smaller individual hotel rooms with an emphasis is on latest technology, stylish communal spaces, and affordable rates, offering investors a good profit margin and more rooms to sell.

One brand succeeding in this space is Yotel, with seven properties in Europe, the US and Asia, and nearly 3,000 rooms in the pipeline, five of these under the new extended-stay YotelPad concept.

The expectation is that the ‘micro’ element of the name will be dropped as this style of hotel becomes more mainstream across the world.
