Having spent three years on the technology of HomeAway, Expedia is stepping up its efforts to add more house listings to take on the home rental competition.

The company is hinting about looking to match the number of listings on Airbnb and Booking.com, to bring its 1.7 million online-bookable listings closer to the 5 million of its rivals.

HomeAway currently generates about 10% of Expedia’s total revenue.
