Hospitality industry leaders remain cautious about the rate of tourism’s recovery, despite intra-European holidays resuming so far without mishap.

Outbound travel resumed to many European destinations in June, and the Council of the European Union recommended that member states open their borders to arrivals from some non-EU countries from the start of July.

Many states however have yet to lift travel restrictions, and many travellers are proceeding with caution, watching the outbreaks flaring up in some spots.

The UK decided to exclude Portugal from the destinations to which UK citizens may travel without quarantine on their return, but this is expected to be reviewed in the coming weeks However, ambassadors from the World Travel & Tourism Council have confessed their confusion about the decision.
