A new batch of travel management startups is changing the face of corporate travel, by putting the focus on the employee’s experience of travel rather than simply satisfying company administrators.

By adding loyalty perks and ‘bleisure’ extensions, the aim is that employees will report back positively and company travel buyers will seek these creative routes in future to avoid burnout on long trips.

Among the simple fixes are adding ways to expense things like dog-sitting while away, and supplying portable Wi-Fi hotspots. Travel management startups such as TravelBank are targeting smaller companies which are entrepreneurial and more aligned to solutions through technology. Meanwhile, they’re not competing directly with the older legacy travel management companies for clients – although they are starting to make inroads.
