The dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Manchester – Oxford Road, set to open in September, has unveiled its design as part of the Bee in the City public art event, which will feature more than 100 different giant bee sculptures across the city promoting the vibrant city and the people who live there.

The 6ft bee designed by artist Jessica Perrin is to be named ‘Beejing’, and will be on display outside the newly built 19-storey development between 23 July and 23 September.

After the end of the summer-long event, all the bee sculptures will be auctioned to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s We Love Manchester charity and to help the families of victims of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

The Crowne Plaza will take up the first 12 floors and offers guest rooms, a 120-seat restaurant, bar, fully equipped 24-hour gym and club lounge, while the extended-stay brand Staybridge Suites over the seven floors above comprises 116 guest rooms, all with views.
