According to a recent report from HVS, domestic demand across the UK hotel sector may support the sector’s recovery, once lockdown measures are fully lifted.

However, hotels in major cities such as London may take longer to recover due to their “heavier” reliance on corporate bookings and international tourists.

The report found domestic stays in the Southwest of England account for 69% of room nights, but only 29% in London.

It says hoteliers that act quickly to attract British travellers who would otherwise have spent their holidays in Europe will be the winners.
