Denmark looks set to welcome a record number of tourists this year, with the Danish Chamber of Commerce predicting that hotels in the country will respond by providing enough beds to accommodate 10 million tourists by 2021 – almost twice Denmark’s total population.

Hotel occupancy is already around 80% percent, and 8,000 more rooms are planned over the next four years, including a five-star Copenhagen waterfront Hilton and the budget chain Wakeup adding hundreds of rooms across the city.

The Copenhagen tourism board is forecasting projected hotel stays to around 7.58 million a year by 2021.
