The recent one-day conference for senior travel buyers, ‘Hotels – Source. Book. Pay. The 2016 way’, saw speakers, case studies and panel sessions exploring key issues such as risk management, data reporting, serviced apartments and suppliers directly targeting business travellers.
The sharing economy was discussed, with issues around safety, insurance and data loss just some of the problems raised including travellers signing up using Facebook details and personal email addresses. Sean Hinds from Bridgestreet said they were one of the first to work with Airbnb, and that it is growing and becoming influential, especially with the emergence of more professional hosts.
Other topics included the rise of reviews rather than star ratings to drive bookings.
