An online lettings agency, thought to be the first in the industry to face enforcement action during the Coronavirus crisis, has been ordered to stop offering holiday homes to let in Cornwall.

The agency has now ordered all guests to leave, including one family who had to be forcibly removed,  and cancelled upcoming bookings.

Cornwall Council’s dedicated service where people could report lettings agencies, holiday cottages, campsites and caravan parks flouting lockdown legislation, led to more than 200 complaints against businesses including Airbnb hosts.

Exemptions for holiday lets to remain open include providing accommodation for key workers, NHS staff and for health and care use.
