Smart technology has truly arrived at Alibaba Group’s FlyZoohotel, a pun in Chinese for “must stay”, which is a 290-room hotel located close to the Chinese e-commerce giant’s HQ.

Everything is done via an app or facial recognition, or both, with robots serving in the restaurant and bar and delivering housekeeping requests such as towels and pillows.

Doors and lifts work using facial recognition, and in the room, guests use Alibaba’s voice technology to control the temperature, lights, curtains, Wi-Fi and more. All food, drink and shopping (from Alibaba) are based on face recognition and charged to your room automatically. On final payment on checking out, the door is locked automatically.

FlyZoo suggests that Alibaba Group is aiming to supply technology to hotels, rather than being in the hotel business itself.
