Research by has revealed that 26 million Brits are set to head off on a summer getaway this year, spending an average of around £1,250 per person per trip including travel, accommodation and food and drink. This is an increase on the 21.9 million who went away last year, spending an average of £1,315 on their travels.

28% of UK adults are opting to go on a staycation in the UK this year, but 26% are planning a beach holiday abroad. City break destinations such as Barcelona and Copenhagen attract around 13%, with more 18 to 24 year olds planning a city break than any other age group in the UK.
Over 3 million Brits are planning a ‘bucket-list’ holiday this summer, preparing to spend significantly more, setting aside an average of £2,165 for their trip.25% say the cost of a trip is the most important factor, followed by cultural offering (20%) and the quality of accommodation (18%). 28% have gone away for an odd length of time such as six or 13 days to save money, while 18% have used voucher code apps or websites to get a discount.Spain tops the list of destinations, followed by France, Italy and Greece.
