As the value of sterling falls and the number of Chinese New Year celebrations rises in Britain, Chinese visitor numbers are soaring in January.
VisitBritain is highlighting that travel was 11% more affordable for visitors from China in December 2016 compared with December the previous year. Flight bookings from China to the UK for January are up 81% year-on-year and up 43% through to March.
More than 70,000 visitors are expected at the Chinese New Year celebrations in London, with major events also in Manchester, Birmingham, Cumbria, Edinburgh, the Isle of Wight, Leeds and Liverpool among others.
Chinese visitors stay longer, travel more widely across Britain and spend up to three times more than the average international visitor.
