Booking.com has unveiled new tools for professional vacation rental managers, enabling them to vet instant-booking guests and block those known to have caused issues, joining moves across the whole short-term rentals sector for platforms to address their market weaknesses. The company is also ramping up its advertising, especially on television.

Airbnb also announced this week some tweaks to its tools for professionally hosted vacation rentals, while Expedia is also reassessing the role of HomeAway.
