An application to demolish a B-listed tenement building on Glasgow’s waterfront to build a twin hotel and aparthotel as part of a £90m development has been described by objectors as an attack on the city’s ‘cultural fabric’.

Structural surveys show adjoining buildings to be beyond repair due to fire damage and water ingress, so plans to use the classically styled tenement for a number of bars and restaurants have been changed to full demolition.

Permission was granted close to the site for a Hilton Doubletree hotel in 2013.
