As we countdown to the ASAP Convention in December  with only a matter of weeks before early bird ticket sales come to an end, we return to this new series of ASAP Convention Session Spotlights where we will be looking in closer detail at one of the sessions taking place over this two day event.

Day 1:  Session 4:  How to tap into the purple pound – cracking access for all with VisitBritain.

There is a compelling business case for making tourism venues and experiences inclusive. People with health conditions & impairments and their travelling companions spend around £12 billion* on trips in England each year, but an additional £117 million could be generated from additional trips if accessibility was improved.

Ross Caladine, Head of Business Support for VisitEngland will lead this key session covering the business case for accessible tourism and providing top tips to help businesses in the serviced apartment sector offer great experiences for people with accessibility requirements.  Ross, as part of his role, is  VisitEngland’s in-house accessibility specialist, developing initiatives that help tourism businesses and destinations tap into the high value growing accessible tourism market.

The session will also introduce the new VisitEngland and VisitScotland Accessibility Guides initiative as well as giving delegates top tips on how they can tap into the purple pound!

As an authority on accessible tourism, Ross regularly speaks at industry events, most recently including 1st UNWTO Conference on Accessible Tourism, World Travel Market, ITB Berlin and Destinations for All World Summit, ASAP are delighted that Ross is speaking at the ASAP Convention this year.
