Plans to extend the Ashling Hotel in Dublin with the addition of an 8-storey aparthotel, to include 27 self-contained suites, have hit opposition over the demolition of four adjacent semi-derelict historic buildings.

The prospective developers Foxfield Inns Ltd claim the demolition is necessary, and that this type of development is designed to meet increasing demand for serviced apartments in the city.
