Brian Chesky, founder and chief executive of Airbnb, has revealed at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity his desire for the platform to be seen as a media owner more like Facebook or Instagram.

Citing a campaign recently run by The Art Institute of Chicago where a room was transformed into a replica of Van Gogh’s ‘The Bedroom’ painting which people could then pay to sleep in, he invited any creative or brand to create something along those lines.

Around 20 per cent of Airbnb trips are now for longer than 30 days, which has led to the trial of a new City Hosts program which promises guests their own private guide during their trip.Read more:
