Airbnb’s India arm has witnessed a slight revenue decrease for the financial year 2019 following increased competition from OYO and MakeMyTrip.

However the company was able to reduce its expenses in FY19, perhaps playing cautiously ahead of its expected IPO in 2020.

Airbnb launched in India in 2016, and now has around 45K listings in India with Goa as its most popular market with 6K listings, doubling numbers of guests year-on-year, with almost two million Indians using Airbnb since its launch.

It has recently introduced Airbnb ‘Plus Homes’ in India, and is adding Hindi to the number of languages in which hosts and guests can use on the platform.
